CTRL is just the common name of the Control key on your computer keyboard. There are normally two CTRL keys on your keyboard but they both do the same thing. You can press the CTRL in conjunction with other keys on the keyboard to perform common tasks more quickly. These are known as shortcut key combinations.
You hold your finger on the CTRL key whilst you press some other key to perform one of the shortcut actions. Microsoft publishes a list of shortcuts for most of its software. Some of the most common ones are:
Ctrl - C to copy
Ctrl - S to save
Ctrl - X to cut
Ctrl - P to print
Ctrl - V to paste
Ctrl can also be used in Excel to select non-adjacent cells, and to do fills with incremental series.
