MSCONFIG allows you to disable tasks that are not needed that start when you get into windows. By doing this you decrease the amount of processing needed to do important tasks thus allowing your computer to run smoother. You can also access boot options from MSCONFIG as well allowing you to go into safe mode the next time you restart as an example.
To use Msconfig, enter msconfig.exe in the Run dialog box.

You can use the Boot tab of MSConfig to find out if the computer is using a dual boot configuration.
Msconfig is one of the essential tools for your PC. To temporarily disable a process, just open msconfig and remove the relevant check marks in the Selective Start up area.
