The main reason I would want to is to hear him teach. The knowledge he had and the way he taught was so awe inspiring that people would literally drop what they were doing and follow him. We have some of his teachings recorded for us, but we don't get to hear him give them in person. The Apostle John concluded his Gospel at John 21:25 like this:
"There are also, in fact, many other things that Jesus did, which if ever they were written in full detail, I suppose the world itself could not contain the scrolls written."
Also to be around someone so compassionate, understanding, and non judgmental would be a refreshing change to what we see in the world today from many people who profess to be Christians.

A Disciple is a follower by definition. Those who want to follow in His example and lead the life of a Christian would want to be his disciple.
why would you want 1?
A philosopher would want to know who Jesus is because it would lead them to a better understanding of the world and religion, and if they are Christian, it would help to develop their faith and strengthen their beliefs and moral principles.
It's entirely up to you, learn more about Jesus's life if you want to find out why he was important. Jesus would love to meet you properly, he knows all about you. If you don't want to know him, he'll still be there.
It depends which god you are referring to.
