Hi, could be lots of reasons. You do not state the engine size and such so I will be general.
1) Low octane fuel could be a problem. This could be because of ethanol or something like that, perhaps water in the fuel.
2) Vacuum leaks. start the engine and spray WD40 around the base of the intake and over all the vacuum hoses. If the idle speed increases you have found the leak.
3) Timing.
4) plugs are fouled/gap incorrect.
