Bad transmission shift solenoid. Get it replaced as soon as possible to prevent further damages.
I had the same problem and then my alternator went out. Replaced alternator and haven't had the problem since. Check your belts.

Spur gears are cut with straight teeth. They can only transmit rotation between parallel shafts, and are relatively economical. Bevel gears have teeth cut on an angle. They transmit rotation between non-parallel shafts. Helical gears have curved teeth. They are generally quieter than spur gears, but are generally more difficult to make and more expensive.
Sounds like a problem with the idler gear in between the reverse gear and the layshaft.
You oil the gears in between the two silver big gears until the are sparkly clean. Keep oiling the gears until they literally sparkle.
