once the number 1 piston is on tdc which ever point the rotor is facing becomes the number one position. if you conect the wires from there and follow your firing order you should have no problems.(i have done it)

Where is number one cylinder on the distributor on a Ford F350?

Easiest way to find it is to set #1 piston at TDC and remove the distributor cap to see where the rotor is pointing. It should be pointing to #1 cylinder position in relation to the distributor cap.

What position is the rotor after timing the cams with the crank shaft.?

Standard is that it is pointing at the number one position on the distributor cap.

Where does position 1 wire on distributor for 3.1 start?

Easiest way to find it is to set #1 piston at TDC, remove the distributor cap and see where the rotor is pointing. It should be pointing to position #1 in relation to the distributor cap.

What position should the plug on the distributor be in at TDC on a 4.3 Chevy?

The rotor inside the distributor should be pointing at the #1 spark plug.

Where does the number one plug wire go on the distributor cap of a 1981 Chevy 350?

If you will remove the #1 plug, (driver's side front of engine), then turn that cylinder to top dead center, (TDC), on the compression stroke, you can then remove the distributor cap and look at the rotor. The rotor will now be pointing to the #1 plug position. GET THE NUMBER ONE CYLINDER TOP DEAD AND THE ROTOR IN THE DISTRIBUTOR SHOULD BE PIONTING AT IT

What cylinder do you bring up to compression stroke and then where do you point the rotor bug to fire the motor on a 2001 Chevy 4.3 liter?

Number 1 cylinder, which would be the first cylinder on the drivers side of the engine. You want the rotor pointing towards the 5 O'Clock position looking at the distributor from the front.

Where is the position of the rotor when your at top dead center?

At TDC, on the compression stroke, the rotor will will be pointing at the # 1 spark plug electrode on the distributor cap.

Where is number 1 at on a the distributor cap for a 70 Chevy 454?

When the # 1 piston is at TDC on the compression stroke, the rotor is pointing to at the # 1 position on the cap. # 1 cylinder is on driver's side, at front of engine.

When timing a 350 engine does the distributor point to the number one piston or the number one spark plug?

Yes the rotor should be pointing to the #1 cylinder when you are installing the distributor.

When do I put in the distribeter before or after finding top dead center?

You want the TDC on the compression stroke of the #1 cylinder, then drop in the distributor with the rotor pointing to #1 on the distributor cap.

Does it matter where you set the distributor in the motor on a 92 s 10?

I think where ever the rotor is pointing when #1 cylinder comes to the top is 1

Where On a 1971 Chevy do you set the distributor to the 1 plug or 1 on the cap?

be it a 4,6,or8 cylinder....be sure you have the crank on TDC, top dead center, install the distributor so that the rotor is pointing to #1 cylinder on the cap
