It's very important to shut down a computer properly because of the fact that during normal shut down your OS saves certain settings and files. If you do a hard boot (power off) without saving any files then you can possibly damage your OS system files.

It is always recommended to turn the computer off by clicking the shut down button. This allows windows to save everything, and close everything safely. By not shutting down and just holding the power button, you risk losing changes made to the operating platform, or losing important data that was recently modified. It keeps the system running smooth!

Because by clicking the log off button it will safe everything and if u log off it saves power to

If you don't allow the computer to properly shut down it can corrupt the system files. In other words it's like slamming a door shut...it might do the trick but something will probably get damaged in the process. 99% of the time when that happens you have to reinstall your operating system in order to fix the problem (in which you lose all your information you have stored unless you have backed it up). In some rare occasions all you have to do is run a repair (such as repairing the partition with your Windows disk for example).

Windows needs to write its memory state into non-volatile memory in order to avoid loss of data. Also most hard disk drives need to spin down, and a sudden loss of power could cause a head crash which would destroy data and the integrity of the disk.

Computers should be shut down properly to make sure that all files are closed properly. Failure to close files correctly can cause a loss of data or corruption of the data.

How do you prevent a computer from burning out?

Computers do not "burn out." If they are treated normally (shut down properly, not overclocked, etc...) they can last indefinitely.

What is the difference between a personal computer a server computer?

A server computer serves other computers (in a network) with programs and/or files. Think of it like a cafeteria. You get your tray (computer), walk down the line (pull down the file menu), when you see something you need or want you ask for it to be put on your tray (downloaded to your desktop computer). Your desktop computer is the same as a personal computer.

What happens after a computer shuts down I think everything stops workin LOL?

Why turning off the computer using the power switch might be harmful to the system?

If your computer turns off with programs still open and in use, you will lose all unsaved items, and could possibly bug the program since it didn't have a chance to properly close down.

What is safe mode and how do you know if you are in safe mode how does it get into safe mode on your computer?

it depends on what PC you have. on apple and windows X.p professional, if the computer is not turned off properly of you had a power , your computer will/might come up a screen saying "your computer was not shut down properly and as a result data was lost. choose safe mode to return this data back or continue normally!" You can also access Safe Mode when you boot up Windows and press F8 repeatedly on the black screen. It'll give you the option to either access Safe Mode, or Safe Mode with Networking.

Why is it recommended to shut down a computer properly?

Since Windows is a multi-tasking, multi-threaded operating system (in other words, it can do several things at once), the process of shutting down Windows makes sure that all of the tasks are terminated properly, and all of the files that may be open are closed.Let us say, for example, that your computer was in the process of checking for new e-mail messages when you shut it down (improperly). The file where your email is stored may be "left open", meaning that the computer wasn't finished with the file operations when it was shut down. The next time you open your e-mail, it may not work because the file it needs was not closed properly. That is a simplistic example; your computer is most likely running 50-100 processes at any given time, so shutting down properly makes sure that all of those things are shut down properly as well before Windows shuts the power down to the computer.

Can reboting your computer to much make your computer slower?

Not unless you don't shut down windows properly. Then you might mess it up. Sometimes after shutting down improperly it will slow down windows maybe a couple of times after you reboot but often it eventually "fixes itself"

Does holding down control make your computer run faster?

No i wouldn't think so. there's not much you can do about a slow computer

Why your computer when you turn off it take slower?

Because it is shuting down all you went on.Another answer:I think what you mean to ask is why it takes so long for a computer to shut down (as opposed to a lamp, which goes dark immediately). Before powering off, a computer goes through a shut-down routine to make sure all files and devices are closed properly. Otherwise, the next time you use it, the files or devices might not be available; or changes you made to a file might not be saved.

Why do we connect a computer to the UPS?

An un-interruptable power supply (UPS) - provides power to equipment if the mains supply fails. It allows (for example) computer-users to finish the work they're doing, and close down the computer properly.
