Talk with them and listen to the things that concern them putting their agenda before your own. Once you know the kind of things people want you to try to get done, try to find out what you can actually do and, when making your speeches, talk about the things you can do. Also, be prepared for some personal attacks on your issues by your opponents. By being prepared you know how to counter them. Last but not leaast, you may not win the first or second or third time but each time you will gain experience and eventually you will have your day.
