sounds to me like it has a bad vacuum leak, check around the intake for hissing sounds
i own a 2002 f150 and it has 196,000 miles and still runs great. Over 150,000 miles is considered high mileage on any vehicle. That does not necessarily mean there is something wrong with it.

5W-30 That's the factory recommendation for that engine size. And Castrol High Mileage works really great for me in my 1981 Ford F-150 with a 4.9L inline six.
