Management is a terrible word that smacks of Manipulation. Leadership is a far Better more inspiring and admirable term. Leadership is much harder to get right but much easier for customers and employees to embrace.

A philosophy is a style or way of thinking, an expression of your values, mission and vision all rolled into a way of acting.

Management could be a set of rules or answers to key questions, heartless, cold and uncaring. But since every business will surprise you with a new question or a new circumstance that you don't have the answers for, you have to know more than just the WHAT the rule is.

A Business philosophy gets you to any variable of WHAT but infusing the infinite possiblities with a sound judgement of WHY and HOW you do what you do.

Some have a philosophy that money is the goal and maximizing profits is everything. Others believe that money is important, but that the earth or the people are more important. Some think that beating every vendor up for every nickle and switching for a penny per unit is good and wise and prudent. Other companies believe that letting vendors survive is better in the long term. Having More vendors with more resources is healthier than one big Survivor living on the edge.

A business philosophy is to business; what faith is to religion, what rhyme is to poetry.
