You remove the caliper only to replace pads, and then caliper mounting bracket to replace rotor.
I do not believe that it would clear the caliper.

The caliper bolts are located in the caliper... You should see two bolts on the inside of the caliper...

Lift the car, remove the tire and set aside, remove the brake shoe/caliper and remove the old pad. Dispose of the old bad, add in the new pads, replace the brake shoe/caliper, replace the tire and lower the car.

You can use a large C-Clamp to compress the caliper piston.
Remove the tire and wheel from your 2003 Chevy Impala. Remove the brake assembly spring and the break caliper. The brake pads will come off. Reverse the process to install the new brake pads.
