The purpose of extended release is so that the medication is used at a certain level over a specified amount of time. If you dissolve it you might as well take regular xanax at the regular dosage. such as an xr xanax last 12 hrs and a regular xanax lasts 4 you would take 1 every 12 hrs or 3 every 4 hrs.

It is not recommended to chew any form of a drug in it's extended release formulation... very dangerous, but yes, will get you 'high.' Whether or not you'll experience a pleasurable high is another question. Xanax, in my experience has a sedative effect only. Maybe I am high, but I'm also asleep so I don't notice.
