There was no sequel. After the movie came the series that did not do as well as expected. I think a lot of ppl tuned out after the death of Optimus Prime, but that is just my opinion. I luv all the shows and wish i had them on DVD. There are 2 seasons of shows beefore Optimus died and 1 season and a part of a season after he died. Rodimus Prime was kewl and all but he was no Optimus.

What makes optimus a prime?
Prime is a title passed down through generations, the original Primes were ironically created by Primus, they basically lead the Transformer race. Through the war with the Decepticons all knowledge of the Primes were eradicated (for the Autobots at least). To Optimus it is just a title of leadership like Lord or Commander
