Definitely NOT......Water & Oil galleries do not lineup!
No, I change last week an Engine (Peugeot XUD9) at a Bobcat.
no 306 is a xud9 te/l and the 406 was a xud9 sd.
It is possible. The Gypsy is based on the long wheelbase version of the second generation Suzuki Gimny, for which a 1.9 liter XUD9 engine was an option.. however, if you were trying to go this route, you'd have to ensure that the transmission on the Gypsy (which may or may not be the same as on the Jimny) has a bell housing which can mate with the XUD9 engine (or whatever engine you wished to install).
I think it's mounted on the left hand side inner wheel arch as you look into the engine bay. (1.9 D XUD9) It should have 2 fairly hefty white coloured wires going to the underneath of it. It is fixed to the side with a single bolt through a small flange on the top. Either a Bosch or Lucas unit. Hope this is right as I am chenging mine 'cos the glow plugs don't work! Can get them for about £25 on e-bay.
