I'm not a mechanic / technician but I believe the answer is ( NO )
From what I have read , there are ( 3 ) different engine blocks for the
Ford 4.0 liter Over Head Valve ( VIN " X " ) engine

1995 and 1996
1997 to 2000

Basic fuel injection for a 5.0 is common, weather a MGM, Explorer, or Mustang. The GT-40 is a series of more powerfull parts that will fit pretty much any 5.0 motor. An Explorer 5.0 intake will fit a Mustang, if both have factory parts. Some Explorer's had parts that were close to the GT-40 designs, and will offer more horsepower then regular factory parts.
The Owner Guide shows that 5 w 30 is the preferred oil ( that's what I've used in my 1995 Ford Explorer for almost 15 years )
According to my Haynes repair manual : ( 40 to 60 PSI at 2000 RPM with the engine warm ) On a 1996 Ford Explorer 4.0 liter V6 engine
It is an Explorer.
This might be due to a clogged fuel filter. They are inexpensive & should be fairly easy to replace.
I use a synthetic 5w-40 for my 1994 C280. Also I only use premium grade gas.
i have a 306 XL 1997 and 17 do fit but they have to have longer wheel bolt and spacers. and the size of the tyre cant be more than 205/40/17 it will be tight but they'll fit son have faith

The main difference will be different Heads, different upper and lower intake manifolds. The explorer has 40 more lbs. of TQ, but the same HP rating. They are not bolt for bolt the same motor.
