Sure if you have enough pressure and the houses are tiny with only a min amount of fixtures
At least 4 normal households.

That totally depends on how many houses there are, and what the pressure in the water mains is. The smallest allowed where I work is an 8" diameter water main, but 10" and 12" are common, too.
they lived in two main houses called Wigwams and Longhouses.
Usually the solid copper wire you see connecting to your water pipes is because it makes a ground for your electrical service of your home. Not seen as much of in newer homes because most of the water lines including main water lines are mostly plastic type materials which electricity cannot flow through.
You need two forms of grounding according to the code. Grounding to the water main is typically the best ground in a building. If you don't have a water meter you can add an extra ground rod.
This problem lies with your pipe sizes. If the pipes size of your main line does not equal the supply for demand this will result in the current problem. For example, if your whole house is fed with half inch piping and you open two taps the volume of water has to be shared from the half inch pipe, thus causing a drop in pressure. Whereas if one installed three quarter inch main line "t-ing" off to half inch, because the three quarter inch will hold a higher volume of water when two taps are opened and the water shared, the drop in pressure will be hardly noticeable.
The main service provided by Drinking Water Delivery is the delivery of water to both homes and business premises. This includes the provision of a drinking fountain, the provision of bottles for this fountain, the installation of the drinking fountain and the maintenance thereof. They also take away waste bottles.
The main house are the House of Representatives and the senate
The recommended diameter is 22mm or 3 quarters of an inch.
Sounds like your main line coming in is small if it's 1/2 inch stepping it up to 3/4 coming in then down to 1/2 inch would increase your pressure
