If this Xterra in question came with a 3.3, then the 3.0L will fit, all the way back to 1984. Unfortunately, the crank pulley will not bolt on, so you'd be using a bunch of accessories from a different vehicle unless the belt routing happens to be the same. You could get lucky, but I didn't.
I learned this when I wanted to put an Xterra supercharger on my 200SX SE V6. Requires the crankshaft out of the Xterra/Frontier in order to put the factory crank pulley on and drive the charger.
So, if you need to save money and want to make it work, then make sure you have the crank from the 3.3. However, I don't forsee a lot of savings, if any. Find a 3.3.
3.5 is the VQ series (generally) and is not compatible without fabrication.

Yes. The ka24de motor is used from 95 through 98.not just used from 95 to 98 because i have a 1990 240sx with a ka24de in it
