Not safely, no. While the round will usually fire, the case will expand, typically causing it to become stuck in the chamber. The bullet will not be properly stabilised, due to being smaller than what the bore was designed for, and/, finally, there's the risk of the gun exploding, due to improper chamber headspacing, which may cause injury or even death to the firer. Use ONLY the ammunition that firearm is designed for.

A look at the cartridge specifications for a .40 vs a 9 mm shows the 9 mm cartridge has a max diameter of 0.394 inches whereas the .40 has a bullet diameter of 0.400 inches. This means the 9 mm cartridge will start to fall through the barrel of the .40 and will probably get stuck in the throat of the chamber. It is unlikely the cartridge will be able to be fired, but if per chance it were able to be fired, it would create a ver dangerous situation.
no. nor can you fit a 40 cal shell into a 9mm chamber...............
No. The 9mm is not compatible with the .40 caliber frame/slide. On the other hand, you can put a .357 SIG barrel into a Glock 22 and use your .40 magazines.
No. Size of the bullets are different.
No. They are not designed to fire a 17 cal bullet
The last I heard, it was Glock pistols in 9 MM. I think it is a Glock 19.
Needs to be examined by a gunsmith.
uuhhh... no, you cannot fire a 9mm parabellum through a .40 s&w.9mm converted to inches is .35 now you see that .40 is a little wider.
-Police Forces over the world have their own choice, but in NSW Australia, as in many forces, the choice is the Glock 9mm Automatic. -If you're asking about what most Officers use in the U.S. it can the 9mm Beretta, the GLock, Hechler & Koch (HK), Sig Sauer - or any other reputable namebrand manufacturer of sidearms. Calibers in use in the US, can be quite varied but are usually the: 9 mm - 10 mm - 40 cal - 45 cal round.
