No, the 351m has a big block bolt pattern, and the 351w has a small block pattern, this caused some what of a problem for me seeing as I had 5 spd tranny off a 351w that I wanted to put on my 351m.
YES IT WILL THE ONE THING YOU HAVE TO WATCH OUT FOR IS IF THE 351 IS A 351C OR A 351M THESE ARE BOTH BIG BLOCK. THE 302 AND THE 351W ARE SMALL BLOCK SO YOU SHOULD HAVE NO PROBLEM BOLTING IT UP. actually the 351c is a small block and the 351m uses both the small block and big block bell housing bolt pattern
the 351M/400M Ford motor has the big block bellhousing bolt pattern, like the 460 and 429 engines. So any overdrive transmission would need to have the Ford Big Block bolt pattern or you will need an adaptor. I do not believe Ford built any overdrive transmission for the Big Blocks. So I don't think there are any direct bolt ons The Ford AOD is a Ford Overdrive transmission that may be used but an adaptor plate and other modifications will have to be made. The GM 700R4 is a good overdrive transmission but would definitely require an adaptor plate.
It is a "windsor" (small block) with Cleveland heads (big block).
The 351M, is "modified." Windsor motor, with Cleveleand heads. So, I guessd a small block.
There is no such thing as a "351 big block". ALL Ford 351's are considered small blocks, tho the wacked terminology of "351 big block" is mistakenly and continually repeated by the un-knowing and by many who should know better. Ford Motor Company considers ALL 351's small blocks; 351W, 351C, and 351M. Ford made a 352 big block (FE block like 360, 390, 406, 427, & 428). If that is what you meant, no the transmission bolt patterns are not the same. The 351W and 351C both have the same trans bolt pattern but the 351M has a bolt pattern like the 429 and 460.
yes
Yes it will
Yes it will bolt right up.
Windsor 351, is a small block. 351 Cleveland, is a big block. The 351M, stands for "modified" and is a windsor (small) block, with Cleveland (big block) heads.
no they will not a 400 is a clevland series motor 460 is a 385 big block the only thing that they have in common is distrbutor and transmission bolt padern 460cid Heads will not fit a 400M because the 460cid is a 385 series big block. The 400M is a 335 series big block. The Cleveland motor is a different engine block all together; however the head bolt pattern and passage pattern on the 351M and 400M 335 series motors is identical to the 351 Cleveland. 351C heads will bolt to 351M and 400M motors, as will piston heads and intake. These improvements are great for performance improvements on the 400M, can push horse power from 165 stock to well over 300hp.
Yes, as long as the transmission has the Chevy bolt pattern.
