It should fit. Although you will most likely have to remove the old shock, sway bar, and spring mountings and weld them on to the other diff. Also check the length of the chevy. diff.
There is no drain plug. Only a fill plug. You have to remove the cover to drain the rear end. Use RTV to reseal it.

You have a Fford 8.8 inch rear end. Look at axle code on vehicl door sticker or look at the rear end and find a tin tag. The second line of tag may look like: "55 88 6L11" 55 bean a 3.55 ratio. 88 meand 8.8 inch. If your number is different, perform searches on the internet for thr ratio. But you do have an 8.8 inch rear end.
Check the rear lower end of the engine--not sure which side, follow the + battery cable
It is at the rear of the motor. Follow the largest cable from the battery(RED CABLE) to the back of the motor and it will end at the starter.
Any 78-88 G-Body rear end is a direct bolt in. The only difference will be that in the 80s they switched to metric wheel studs. You'll need the correct lug nut for this.
