First off, The Bible tells us that all men are sinners. There is nothing we can do to change that. But it also tells us that God loves us so much that He sent His son to die for us, to literally take our punishment upon His shoulders. Jesus died on the cross for your sins. He died so that He could spend the rest of eternity with you, and only you. There is only one thing that He asks that we do in return. We have to believe that He died for us, we have to confess our sins to Him, and we have to repent of our sins. The only thing we have to do is give our lives over to Him. Anyone who dies in a state of mortal sin casts themselves immediately into hell. One mortal sin is enough to completely kill the live of grace in your soul and forbid your entry into heaven. Very few people actually end up going to heaven when they die, as there are very few people who are actually perfect when they die, people who die without any stain from sin. We call those people saints. However, EVERYBODY saving Our Blessed Lord and his mother, who goes to heaven was a sinner at one time. Everyone of us was born in original sin and with a fallen nature. Thus we thank God that we are given the time we are given and for the fact that there is a purgatory.
