In order to dissemble the rear axle on a 2000 Honda TRX 300 first determine if it is inner or outer joint. You then remove the retaining ring behind the boot to access the axle.
I had the same deal a month ago. It was RR.Pinion Joint, part # 41315-HN2-000 You take the rearend off and the shaft that connects the RR and motor is where it is. I hope this helps you.
