remove instrument cluster and clean plug at rear of cluster and other plug in dash, common problem - dirty plug causes no cluster activity and or goofy stuff
this is my own answer,no airbag will be ok, the only problem is you have to reprogram instrument cluster and ford are the only one that can do this at a cost of £119.00+ vat.
buy a new instrument cluster or check the wires in back my car had that problem and it was a loose connection to the back of the panel
This is caused by a flawed design is the instrument cluster of 2002 model Volkswagen Beetles. It is a common problem that can be fixed by replacing the instrument cluster with one made after 2002.
You can determine if an instrument cluster is bad by checking for several signs: if multiple gauges (like speedometer, fuel gauge, or temperature gauge) are malfunctioning or not working at all, that’s a key indicator. Additionally, if warning lights remain illuminated or flicker inconsistently, or if the display is dim or unreadable, the cluster may be faulty. Unusual noises or erratic behavior of the instruments can also suggest a problem. Lastly, diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) from an OBD-II scanner can help confirm issues related to the instrument cluster.
Is it just the cluster or the whole dash lights are out? If whole dash check the fuse or as I have had similar problem light this was the headlight switch and replaced it.
i have the same problem. i just got back from the dealer. they said it is either an instrument cluster or ignition switch. ugh!
I would check the headlamp dimmer ; it is possibly fried.
your fuse blow, There might also be a problem with the actual bulbs that are behind the instrument cluster.
