Rats are not known for canabilizing their young, but babies should not be left without their mother for any longer than about an hour. They need to nurse.
After giving birth to the babies separate the male from the female and babies or else the male will try to kill them. after a few week or so separate the mother and then separate the female and male babies or else they will mate at an early age and have undeveloped babies
As long as the male guinea pigs have been weaned they are ready to leave their mother, as you cannot keep a mother with her own male babies, because if they mate the babies that she has will have genetical problems. No you can't keep the two adult mothers together as when the babies are born they will try to feed off both mothers.
Yes, this is possible. The mother might not be 2 happy about it though. Most mothers let babies out of the nest at 2 weeks.
Turkey eggs usually hatch in Spring. Male turkey babies, also known as poults, will stay with their mother through the fall. Female poults stay with their mother about a year, and go their own way when spring comes again.
the babies will stay for only a week.
Give it about one week
Most of the time the mother stays with the babies. The father usually does the hunting unlike seahorses. They mostly do the hunting but they will stay with their babies once in a while. Face it I am an animal freak. Oh and a special shout out to my bffs which i wont say their name soo sorry bffs
If you are talking about a rabbit, wait for a day or two. When you do clean the cage, leave the babies and all the hair alone. You can check the babies out in a week, to make sur how many and what sex they are.
no she will abandon them where they will die because they need her to feed them Do not listen to this person, this is absolutely not true. Baby rats must be handled regularly from the first week they are born or they will not be tame. If the mother rat trusts you she will be fine with this. A female rat will only abandon one of her babies if it is a runt and she already has over 12 babies.
do everything that you can the same as their mother would have if she was still there
Well, the best thing to do is remove the male if he's still in there (in case you want your female to get pregnant right after - although this is very stressful for the mother). After that, just leave the mother alone for a few days, other than removing and replacing food and/or water. Try not to poke your hands through her nesting area as she might feel threatened and eat her babies, then after a week or so, you can attempt to handle the babies (but be very careful!). It is probably a female. And it is about to have babies
