Depends -- As of August of 2007, iodine became a federally regulated chemical because of its use as a catalyst in methamphetamine production. I am a manager at a large retail pharmacy and in the last 2 years or so, they have been pulling their stock of iodine products. Whether or not this is part of a gov't mandate or because the company does not want the liability is unclear to me.
