Where is the speed sensor located in the transmission for a 1998 ford expedition?

there is 2 of them depending on what type of tranny you have, the MAIN sensor that makes the speedo work is located on the rear transfer case and NOT on the tranny itself. the other is a much smaller sensor that does go on the tranny but that ones DOESN'T effect your speedo. if you speedo is not working then its going to be the BIG sensor in the rear.

What to check on a 2004 HD Road King when the turn indicators nor speedometer not check engine light do not work?

Check the speed sensor on the top of the tranny. This will tend to build up with metal shavings and cause the sensor not to read the speed of the transmission.

Will driving a 98 Chevy cavalier with a speedometer that doesn't work blow your engine or transmission?

No it will not blow your engine or tranny up it has nothing to do with either of them. The thing to look for is if a speed sensor is out.

Why the speed odomoter don't work on your 91 Chevy Caprice?

It can be several things, the vehicle speed sensor could be out or wires disconnected. Does your car stall out when going slow? If it does it's the v.s.s. that is located on the end of your tranny on the drivers side.

Your speedometer in your 1991 S-10 pickup 4WD quiet working last week you replaced the speed sensor and it still doesn't work you need suggestions on whats wrong?

Your 1995 164LS transmission is not shifting out of 1st gear sometimes At the same time the speedometer does not work Ive rebuilt transmission and replaced computer Is there a speed sensor?

Yes there is a speedometer sensor on top of the tranny that feeds the transmission computer and the speedo gauge. See the service manual for details on where it is, I believe on the LS it is acccessible without having to drop the tranny.

89 Cadillac eldorado 4.5 3 speed automatic with overdrive. only first and reverse work?

Time for a new Tranny or a rebuilt. This is something that a Tranny shop needs to look at they have specialized equipment. First and reverse are usually the same gear except reverse direction. At least that has been my experience. It could just be shift solenoids are bad or even speed sensor. Have a good tranny shop check this out. Hope this helps

If the speed sensor is bad will it cause the fuse to burn out for the odimeter?

The odometer gets its signal from the speed sensor, so if the (tailshaft) speed sensor is bad then the odometer obviously will not work

What would make your speed odometer not work?

Bad speed sensor is a likely culprit

I have to get my 2001 Dodge Ram to 4000 rpms or 35 mph before it will shift into second then it shifts immediatley into third is this the Speed sensor Shift control solenoid or Transmission?

It wouldn't hurt to try putting a new speed sensor in it. Its not hard to replace. It is located on the side of the tranny. It runs around 20 bucks. If that doesn't work then you might need to get your tranny looked at Sounds to me like the kickdown band is worn and the linkage inside the trans for it has fallen off. You will most likely need an overhaul.

Your 1999 sable odometer does not work?

Check VSS(vehicle speed sensor)on tranny, the most common problem of speedometer errs, providing your vehicle is equipped with a speedometer cable. Also,VSS,will cause erratic speedometer reads. - Big Daddy
