Most normal ear piercings are usually 18 gauge.
But, it depends if you wear heavy earrings, or if you play with your earrings alot over the years. I went from the regualr earring to an 8

∙ 12y agoIt might. Most lobe piercings are done at 18ga which is 1 mm and 14ga is 1.6mm. If you have scar tissue, theres a chance that it wont fit. I had scar tissue and I had to stay at 16ga for a while before 14ga would fit. If it does fit, it'll probably be a little red and a bit sore for a day or two. You can use vitamin e oil or jojoba oil to help.
