Without having the recipe, there is no way to know what effect water is going to have. Yeast bread or quick bread? Water will usually cause a harder crust to form. I don't know that it would change the fluffiness one way or the other.

The proper way to butter and eat bread is to take a knife and place it in soft butter (hard butter will tear the bread) and cover the bread with butter up to the crust of the bread; then one can either cut the bread in half or eat it as a whole piece. When was bread and butter released?

Bread has been made by humans since before recorded history, as has butter. Bread and butter would have been eaten in combination since both became available. Although the sandwich is considered a relatively modern invention, it's actually no such thing: people have been using bread as edible plates to hold toppings or fillings such as meat or vegetables since bread was first used, all over the world. Adding butter or some other form of grease to the bread keeps it moist and adds to the flavor of the sandwich, so that idea would have occured to ancient humans right at the start of our bread-eating days.
