There is always risk of animals eating their young. In captivity is happens more often as the babies are confined to such a small area with its parents. This is why hobbyists tend to incubate eggs in a seperate container.

Do geckos take care of their young?

no! they do not, most likely they will try to eat their young so if your gecko has a baby put the baby in a separate holder.

Are geckos scared of humans?

It depends on how they have been socialized. My two geckos are very friendly because they have been handled and desensitized to human contact since they were very young, but I have met geckos that are very afraid of people.

Where does the web-footed gecko raise their young?

Geckos do not raise their young as most mammals do. Most geckos will deposit two hard shelled eggs, 4-6" deep in soil. Once those eggs have incubated for an extended period of time, the tiny gecklettes are all on their own. with only a small handfull of gecko species bearing live births, this is the process for most species.

How do geckos take care of its young?

Most gecko species as well as reptiles in general do not take care of their young. The eggs are deposited into the soil about 4-6" deep and after the incubation period has taken place, the small gecklette's are to fend for them selves. Most gecko species will live solitary until breeding season and after the warmer months, the geckos will not interact with one another again until next season.

Do gecko lay eggs?

Yes. Most species of geckos lay eggs. There are few but some gecko species that bear live births, this is referred to as vivipary or ova-viviparous. Some species that bear live births include: Naultinus elegans elegans, Rhacodactylus trachyrhynchus, Rhacodactylus trachycephal. Most of the world's gecko species lay eggs, though not all geckos reproduce this way. Some species, such as the approximately 40 gecko species endemic to New Zealand, give birth to live young.

Can you house a male baby leopard gecko and an adult female together?

Yes, because the female will nurse the baby male.whoever answered this was wrong. they leave their young, there is no nursing involved at all ever. The female will most likely bully the baby and could cut off his food supply.Do not house two leopard geckos of different size together.

Can a Leopard Gecko be introduced to a new Leopard Gecko?

Unless they are juveniles, I advise you not to introduce adult Leopard Geckos. It can get the Gecko who got into the vivarium first quite stressed which can kill it. If they are juveniles, though, they will be OK together. However, you should NEVER put two males together, even if they are juvenile, as they would fight to the death of one another. Two females or a male and female who have been together since juveniles will be fine, but anything else could end up with a dead Gecko. P.S. I have two Geckos of my own who have been with each other since a very young age too. Beware that some animals are quite solitary like these kind of Lizards.

Can you keep adult crested gecko with a juvenile crested gecko?

I would strongly recomend that you don't put baby leopard geckos in with adults until they are about 10-12 months of age, depending on the size of your baby. You want to make sure that your baby is able to grow with out stress of possible bullying from more dominant adult geckos. Also depending on the size of your adult gecko it could mistake your baby gecko as food. It isn't uncommon for adult geckos to eat pinkies (baby mice) so it isn't unlikely your adult could attempt to eat or strike at the baby. If your baby is a female it is not safe to introduce her to sexually mature males before she is sexually mature. An early pregnancy is not healty for your new gecko. Leopard geckos mature at about 10-12 months. Males will fight each other once they reach sexual maturity so they should never be put in the cage with an adult male no matter what their age or size. The role I live by is if the baby is grown enough to eat large super worms and pinkies it should be safe to live with any adult leopard geckos.

Do baby golden gecko need to get fed everyday?

It's best to feed baby geckos of any species everyday to ensure that the young gecko is receiving everything it needs nutritionally in order to thrive. Golden geckos are known to be omnivorous and have been known to eat MRP once a week. Try offering your young golden geckos 1-2 live, appropriately sized feeders daily with a bottlecap lid of meal replacement powder once a week. Always be sure to gutload and dust live feeders. Gutloading should take place 24-48hours prior to feeding.
