e46 its newer more powerfull bigger better interior more expensive but better.....
Timing chain. All E36 and E46 models use a timing chain.

The overall suspension setup is very similar, however you will find that if you wish to interchange parts, the rear may fit but the front is completely different
I have had two BMW cars one e46 and one e36 both 328 engines the e36 ran well over 200k before I sold and only did to get an e46 the car was running perfectly, the e46 well in to 180k and again upgraded to a 330 ci currently with 200k on the clock runs perfect
No. All BMWs since E36 have had timing chains and not belts and therefore do not need to be changed.
If your 325i is m50 and the m3 head is m50 it will fit. Or if both is m52.
