It won't harm anything to shut it off while in drive. Shutting off the engine will cause the will not cause any damage because only if your in an automatic. If you shut off the engine in a car with a manual based shifting system, the transmission will blow because you will not be able to shift from drive to stop to drive quick enough. On the other hand, automatic cars will shift for you, thus posing no threat to the oil pressure or anything else for that matter.

Fuel injected vehicles do not inject if your not pressing the peddle and the engine revs are over idle. If you press the peddle or slow down below about 5 -10 mph, then the injectors will start up. Putting the transmission into neutral while moving will cause the engine to idle and inject fuel. Therefore you benefit nothing by putting your vehicle in neutral to coast.

What harm or danger could occur by driving while service engine light is on steady?

You can drive the car but should have the vehicle checked soon as possible. BUT if the service engine soon light is flashing, stop the vehicle when it is safe to do so then shut off the engine immediately. If you continue to drive the vehicle with the service engine soon light flashing you will do catastrophic damage to the catalytic converter(s).

Do you think you can harm your computer system if you do not shut down properly?

The short answer is absolutely emphatically yes! If you would call it harm to have your operating system fail to boot, anyway. In truth there are many safeguards to prevent any damage from occurring via power interruptions, so you might get away with it, then again maybe not. Best Practice: shutdown via start-shutdown.

How do you create a simple virus?

running program 'shutdown' shuts off the computer. you can just search it on your computer and upload it on web so someone can download and shut down their own computer. it does not harm the hard drive or anything, so it's more like a prank than a virus.

If you continue to drive a 1994 Chevrolet 1500 pickup with a crack in the drivers side exhaust manifold will it damage the vehicle?

I assume you are asking if this will harm the engine. The answer is no, it will do no harm to the engine. It will however, possibly allow exhaust gases to enter the passenger compartment, and as you know, that can be deadly. If it were my truck, I would have it repaired or replaced, and not take that chance.

Can shutting down your computer every day harm it?

It depends on whether you are shutting down via menu or manually. If you are doing through the menu (i.e. Start > Shutdown) then no harm will be done. If you are actually holding down the power button to switch it off, then no harm should be done, unless you switch it off during an important process, which can lead to file corruption. Essentially, if one switches off a computer through menus, one is giving the computer the option to shut all ongoing programs, and then shutdown. Conversely, if one pushes and holds the power button, then one is demanding an instant shutdown, which may or may not lead to file damage.

Can you harm the engine if you drive it with white smoke?

If the white smoke is being caused by a damaged head gasket or crack in the block or head, yes. If it is caused by an air/fuel ratio problem, it will not be as damaging immediately, but can damage your engine over time.
