The evap control valve is on the cannister
evap vacuum cut valve bypass valve
P0443 - EVAP control system CANISTER PURGE VALVE CIRCUIT MALFUNCTION - VPWR circuit open - Evap canister purge valve circuit shorted to ground - damaged EVAP canister purge valve - EVAP canister purge valve circuit open - EVAP canister purge valve circuit shorted to VPWR - damaged PCM
where is the evap purge valve located in a 1996 jimmy
No. The purge valve is part of the EVAP system. The EVAP system reclaims and burns the gasoline fumes from the fuel tank and prevents the fumes from escaping into the atmosphere. A faulty purge valve would cause the "check engine" to illuminate but not cause the engine of the vehicle to "die".
This usually indicates a faulty Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Vacuum Cut Valve/Bypass Valve.1. Verify battery voltage to the EVAP vacuum cut valve bypass valve on the Black/White wire with the key ON.2. Verify the Green/White ground wire for the EVAP vacuum cut valve bypass valve is good all the way to the ECM. The Green/White wire goes to terminal 117 on the ECM.3. Verify the EVAP vacuum cut valve bypass valve is closed (can not blow through it by mouth) when the EVAP vacuum cut valve bypass valve is de-energized.4. Verify the EVAP vacuum cut valve bypass valve opens (can blow through it by mouth) with the valve powered up and grounded.5. Check the EVAP vacuum cut valve to verify it allows flow only one way.

Where is the evap purge control valve located on a 96 camaro
It is mounted up under the truck right next to the gas tank, in front of it.
YOU WILL FIND IT MOUNTED ON A BRACKET UNDER THE TRUCK BY THE FUEL TANK
the 4308 code is for a evap system leak. this could be caused by many different components including the filler neck, evap lines, evap purge valve, vent control valve or even a loose or bad gas cap.
