Dogs will hold out for a few days if they are upset or if they are trying to be picky eaters. It's enough to upset a pet owner. Just be sure to leave some dry food out for them, and they will go nibble here and there. Eventually, they will break down and eat. Dogs are not known for starving themselves. If they hold out for more than a few days, if they seem to be in pain, or if it happens on a regular basis, they need to go to the vet to make sure something else isn't going on.

∙ 15y agoHe needs to see a vet. It could be a number of things; anything from a really bad intestinal infection that may require hospitalization to grieving for someone's death or departure.
