It should turn pink if you bleach where you want the pink to be in your brown hair, if it doesn't turn pink after you bleach and dye your hair then I would keep putting pink over it. If you don't like your hair pink just dye over the color with your hair color.

Drug stores carry hair dye. Brown will cover red quite efficiently. You might get a hint of brunette.
One of the best things to do is to dye the part you want pink a lighter colour then dye it pink. Cause if you put the pink straight into your darker hair it wont come out pink, or not as pink as you'd want it. Essentially you are going to have to prelighten/bleach your hair before you dye it pink.
As long as the sofa cover is made of cotton, linen, or another natural fiber this should not be a problem. Manmade materials like polyester are impossible to dye.
