You can do this little trick by adding food coloring to water. Make a fresh cut to the stem of the flower and insert the stem into the water. After a couple of hours you will be able to see the color spreading through the petals. It works best with lighter colored flowers with somewhat wide stems such as white carnations.

You can also do this trick with celery for a experiment with kids. Use red food coloring in the water and place the celery stalk in the water. Leave it over night. The next day you can slice the celery and see how the color has spread through the tubes in the celery.

Yes. Here are some instructions.

1. Get out a cup, fill it with water, and die the water with some food coloring.

2. Pick a flower out of the garden.

3. Put the flower into the cup

4. The flower will transpitate water drawith the color in it. Then, you will see the effect happen.

This works best with white flowers. Red, pink, purple or yellow food coloring always gets better result than other colours.

certain flowers like hydrangea are suseptible to changes of soil pH.

by altering the pH of the soil it is possible to change the colour of the "flower" - although technically the hydrangea "flower" is actually a mass of colour bracts

Carnations can be colored that way, but I don't think any other flower can.

Yes it can. For instance, if you put blue food coloring in water with a white flower then in a couple of days there will be blue streaks in the petals. It is actually very pretty!
