Yes, in my expertise I believe it does work on most cars but, it won't do much if your transmission itself is not in good shape if it is then there's no harm in trying cause on most cars I've tried it on it works just fine. Once, I have used it on an 01' Toyota Celica but, 00' will do just the same.
There is no problem with using Dextron 3 in your tranny. It will not harm it. If your tranny is old, you could always find a shifter/tranny/console, etc. at a salvage yard and go manual. It's more fun, better mileage and you would avoid the inevitable issues that come with having an older car. Both my late eighties Celicas are manual and I never have issues with them. I did have bent shift forks from a previous (apparently shifting challenged owner) I noticed on a long trip when I couldn't get it to stay in 5th gear. Also it had a fluid leak (a slow drip) that may have contributed to the problem as when the fluid level drops, you start losing gears from 5th on down. (according to a mechanic). Anyway, as time goes by, keeping up a manual isn't a pain like an automatic. Those trannys are bullet-proof.
Dextron 3 ATF
Same fluid which is used for brake fluid dextron
The 2000 Olds Bravada uses Dextron iv automatic transmission fluid. The fluid is specific and other types should not be substituted.

I have a 2000 Tacoma 4x2 and it uses Dextron II. Pull out the dipstick where you check the trans fluid level and it should be stamped on it.
Flush it with BG product. They disconnect the transmission cooler lines from the transmission to the radiator and connect a BG machine that contains replacement fluid. Your car's transmission pump forces the old fluid out of the transmission and the torque converter and the BG machine replaces it with the new fluid. There are 2 fluids that BG uses to complete the process. First fluid is a cleaner and the 2nd fluid is a conditioner for the new transmission fluid. DO NOT just drain the transmission fluid, but do a flush.
Whatever your owner's manual says. Don't have one, then call your local Kia dealer for the answer. Dextron II or M III
