Frost should not affect a Holly. Evergreens shed leaves at all times of the year but never all at the same time. If shedding is excessive then as long as the ground is not frozen try a good watering as the roots could be dry.

Leaves grow on trees. Every autumn, the trees shed their leaves in preparation for the winter months. Prior to leaves falling off of trees, they typically change from green to yellow, red, orange or brown. When the leaves fall off the trees, they dry out and turn brown.

The leaves only last a few weeks each. When they yellow and later brown, they should be removed. If all the leaves are turning dark, then the lily is dying.
My silver dollar eucaliptus tree is 3 years old and the leaves are looking a little brown and some are falling off. During the summer months I had noticed some sort of small bugs on the under side of the leaves. Could this be the cause of the dying off look? JNINE

It sounds like the cactus has been severly frost bitten and is dying. There is little that can be done to save it.
Possibly lack of moisture at the roots.
