It's not the weight of gasoline as much as the molecular structure. Gasoline molecules tend to stick to your skin so the smell is difficult to get rid of. (Remember that gasoline is made from oil and oil is very sticky.) I don't know if the gasoline literally soaks into your skin, but you certainly don't want to be soaking your skin in gasoline as it probably is toxic to your health. Gasoline is never something to mess around with especially if there is any chance of a possibility of a spark or flame around. Gasoline is extremely flammable and so are the vapors that emit from gasoline. Breathing in gasoline fumes will cause brain damage so imagine soaking your skin in it, can't be good at all.
