They should not, but sometimes that does happen, but that has never happened to me.

∙ 15y agoit doesn't matter really... just as long as you only have i male in the cage and he's already there when they're born. Females actually help look after the babies.

Whenever something like this happens, you need to find a really good pet store and veterinarian places to provide nutriton to the babies. Whenever my guinea pigs have babies and find out something like this happened to somebody, I myself would take care of the babies that lost their mother and then return them to their owners. Anyways, it doesn't take long at all before guinea pigs start to eat solid food. They are born with teeth just like they are born with hair.

I would not recommend it. Just have the Mother Guinea Pig in with her babies separately. Sometimes the other guinea pigs can get excited and accidentally stomp the babies to death so best to keep Mom & babies separate.

you cant separate the babys from their mother for about 4 weeks but when they are ready they wont really care about being separated as long as the guinea-pig is not all alone guinea-pigs should live in groups so make sure that they are not on their own but other wise if you want to separate them then all you have to to is put them in a different cage or if you dont want them you can sell them to a trustworthy petshop who will take care of them or give them away. !

If you reintroduce the father he may get jealous of the attention the mother is giving to the babies and hurt the babies or kill them because he isn't getting the attention. Also, if you reintroduce the father when the babies are grown, the father might mate with the mother AND the females of the litter and then OOPS... more babies!
