it will cause the truck to go into limp mode, no power, and a big drop in mpg. the rear 02 sensor will not read and the ecu will retard timing. hint limp mode. there is a way around this you can buy a rear 02 bypass, hard to find them due to they were outlawed a few years back. you can make one for a few bucks with a resistor, or a dyno tune to get the ecu to not look for a reading from rear 02. if this is done right, i have seen 35 to 40 hp gain, but 10 to 12fpt loss. helps in the mid to top range but hurts you off the line.
When it was built, It had one.
Yes it had 1 from the factory.
Catalytic Converter is clogged.
Brown and Brown in Mesa Arizona is charging me $1300.00 to replace the catalytic converter and fuel filter.
Upstream would be before the catalytic converter. Downstream would be after the catalytic converter.
There are multiple O2 sensors on a 2002 Chevy truck. They are all located on the exhaust system. There will be pre catalytic converter and post catalytic converter sensors.
Depending on where you live, you MAY be in violation of emissions law.
Yes, and it is also illegal to remove the catalytic converter. Your engine will not run properly with the converter removed and will have less power and will use more fuel.
Yes, That year MUST have 1 are it will not run right. No way around it.
It sure did, That is the law on all makes and models.
I have a 1987 Chevy Silverado 350 tbi that runs just fine without the catalytic converter. I run dual exhaust from each side of the engine with glass packs, has more power and sounds great.......SES light comes on but will go off.......
Any Vehicle In most parts of Canada and Usa does not need to have a Catalytic Converter If it was made Jan 1,1995 and earlier. It will flow better and probably get more powerand mileage
