Will smoking marijuana affect the medication one would take for bipolar disorder?

Regular smoking of marijuana can lead to paranoia, hardly good news to someone with bipolar mood disorder. The relaxed feeling is just fleeting, the after effects very damaging. And if one is taking medication to help relieve the symptoms of bipolar mood disorder, what is the point of smoking marijuana? One will help cancel the other one out. So stick to the medication and wave goodbye to the marijuana.

It is often seen that bipolar sufferers drink alcohol and do drugs, because they believe it is going to relieve their symptoms. They are just fooling themselves - it gradually makes the condition much worse.

Quite the contrary, at least from my experience.

I have suffered from Bipolar (1 to 2) my entire life, and I can honestly say that with my personality, it was possibly the only thing that preserved my sanity. It has stabilized my swings, made them much less noticeable, and I'm able to be much more productive, both as an artist, and as a member of society.

In my opinion, this is a logically and scientifically sound example.

The mental effects of cannabis primarily target short-term memory and serotonin uptake during it's gestation period.

These feelings are perceived in very different ways depending on the personality of the user.

This means that with practice, discipline, and the right attitude, one could perceivably learn to "control" their emotions, both through the medication (which IS what tetrahydrocannabinol is genetically designed to be.), and through the different perspective provided by the effects.

My rule of thumb I give to all of my followers: Use it to balance, not to please.
