To replace the tail light bulb on a 1997 Lexus SC 300, open the trunk and locate the tail light assembly. Remove the screws or clips securing the assembly, then gently pull it away from the body of the car. Twist the bulb socket counterclockwise to remove it, replace the old bulb with a new one, and reassemble the tail light by reversing the steps. Ensure everything is securely fastened and test the lights before closing the trunk.
Probably in the shifter wire loose or off.
There is a cosmetic panel on the back panel of the trunk. If you remove that, there are 4 bolts on each side, and the tail lights pop out. You cannot get to the bulbs from inside the trunk, they must be removed.
