Will the Mexican drug war ever end?
Not really. The only two options for the Mexican Government to really end the conflict would include drug legalization or to pact a cease-fire with the drug cartels, allowing smuggling of narcotics trough the US-Mexico border.
Both options are out of the question, as the US Government will react violently to these choices. Besides, a large portion of the deceased due to the war have been operatives from drug cartels, competing for control of smuggling routes into the US. Letting go old grudges will be a very difficult task, as some of these cartels have resorted to brutal and gory acts of intimidation such as beheadings and torture.
The only way for the Mexican drug war to ever end is if the US Government stops its nanny state policies and legalizes drugs altogether.
