Of course. If you want to join, you believe in the teachings, and you are willing to live the gospel, the church... and more importantly, God, will accept you. He doesn't turn people away who want to come to him.

Do Mormons accept recovering drug addicts?

Yes they do. They welcome anyone. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, also sponsors a 12-step addiction recovery program. Yes of course! The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the "Mormon" church) will accept anyone, regardless of their past. Like all Christians, the Mormon church believes that Jesus Christ paid the price for your sins. God loves you and provided a way (Jesus) for you to return to Him in heaven, no matter what you might have done in the past. If you come unto Christ all your past sins will be forgiven. (and if you make a mistake after coming to Christ, you can repent and still be forgiven!) There is no sin too big that Jesus cannot erase it. The Church provides a free addiction recovery program to support both Mormons and non-Mormons who face addiction. Check out the "related links" below to learn more about the Mormon Church and the addiction recovery program.

Why can't Mormons have tattoos?

Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (commonly called the "Mormon" church) can have tattoos, and many do. However, Mormons believe that they should respect their bodies as sacred gifts from God and thus church officially advises against tattooing, even in places such as New Zealand, the Pacific Islands, and Africa where tribal tattooing is common. There is no penalty for having tattoos, it is simply "advised against", and many Mormons having very visible tattoos are faithful, active members of the church. There are some more specific rules for Mormon missionaries who have tattoos. If someone with tattoos applies to be a missionary they need to try to keep these tattoos covered while proselyting. For many this means wearing long sleeves, even while going door to door all day in the summer heat. Here are some links to images of Mormons with tattoos:Al FoxThis guy tattooed Jesus and all the Mormon prophets on his backRen and Bryan KasikNikki YasteMormon has tattoo surgically removed so that he could be a missionary (news story)

What if you have a kid and tattoos can you join the Mormon church?

You can join the Mormon Church even if you are covered in tattoos and have kids :) Jesus Christ loves everybody and will welcome you! Because He LOVES YOU!! ________ You did not say if you were divorced or you had the child out of wedlock. If you were divorced and then after having some instruction from the Missionaries you still feel that you would like to join the church, then I see no reason why you could not. If you had the child out of wedlock then much repenting needs to be done on your part so that forgiveness may be obtained from the Lord. The Bishop through revelation will know if you are truly repentant, if so then you may join the church. Your tattoos, though not agreeable to the Lord will not be a deterrent to you from being baptized. ____ No matter how you have a kid, or what tattoos you have, you can join the Mormon church if you want to be part of it and if you are willing to live the gospel. God accepts everyone, and the whole point of baptism is repenting and wanting to change your life... all you have to do is be willing to live the gospel from now on... no suffering for past choices required.

What do you call a person who is against the teaching of the church?

Heretic. It really depends, though, if that person is teaching a contrary idea, or if they just don't want to follow what the church professes. By definition, a Heretic is someone who teaches a belief that is contrary to church dogma. A Blasphemer is someone who is irreverent or disrespectful to the church. A Heathen is someone who refuses to believe what the church teaches.
