Empires rise and fall due to political and military reasons. For example, the Roman empire rose because it had military might and still fell because of bad rulers and poor political decisions which led to economic downturn.
It is unlikely that Huns and Visigoths will descend on the US
Yes.Yes.Yes.Yes.Yes.Yes.Yes.Yes.Yes.
One of the differences is that the US is not an empire, it is a country. An empire is a region ruled by an emperor. The US doesn't have an emperor. Yet.
A:Historians tell us that the Roman emperors preferred to ignore the Christians and had no interest in Jesus. It was only when the Christians began to appear disloyal to the empire that widespread official persecutions began. Edward Gibbon (The Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire) says that Christian traditions about centuries of pagan persecution arose in the fourth and fifth centuries, when the Christian Church sought to justify its own persecution of the pagan temples.

It could be argued that the Roman Empire has never fallen because its influence still remains with us even today.
First of all it has to be clarified that it was the western part of the Roman Empire which fell. The eastern part of this empire continued to exist for nearly 1,000 years. The generalisation about the fall of the western part of the Roman Empire is that it fell under the weight of the invasions by the Germanic people. An invasion of Gaul by the Vandals, Sueves and Alans set in motion a process in which the Romans lost political cohesion and within 87 years, they lost of the lands of this part of the empire to Germanic peoples, including peoples who had been Roman allies.

No, it's definetely NOT. For a place to be an empire, you need an emperor. All the U.S. has is a president. There was a Roman Empire, and an Incan Empire, though.
Some interesting history to study. The world moved on after the fall of the empire.

The Byzantine Roman Empire aka Eastern Roman Empire did become known but the Roman Empire did not seperate till much later because Julius Caesar came into power in the 6th century bc.The Eastern Roman Empire lasted till 1453 and the Western Roman Empire fell a century or two before that. When the Roman Empire seperated or divided was in the 3rd century ad 3 centuries after Jesus Christ died on the cross for us all.
Similarities between the two empires are: They are both democratic, they both hold their hands over their hearts, they both are ruled by one leader who has a group of people assist him, the constitution and branches of government are based on the roman form of government, they both have an empire that reaches far and wide, The Romans fell fast and hard, and sadly, the US will fall fast and hard.
