Apparently not ! If you look at the earth from space - it's already 'lop-sided' - the Pacific Ocean covers almost half the globe - putting most of the land masses on one side.

Which side of the moon do you see from earth?

The "near" side of the moon is the side that always faces Earth. The "far" side of the moon can only be seen from space. The dark side of the moon is the title of a Pink Floyd album. There is no side of the moon that is always dark.

Why is the moon lopsided?

The same side of the moon is always facing the earth (whose gravitational pull is keeping the moon in orbit). Therefore, the moon has to be lopsided - one part is "heavier" or has more mass than the other part. The "heavier" part is always facing the earth as it is pulled by the earth's gravity. Why is it lopsided? Because it collided with a massive object and blended in to one object over a period of time. Some theories claim that it was a smaller "sister" moon of the earth. That is possible and also it is possible that it was a large meteorite from outside the solar system. If we look at the composition of the material on the two sides of the moon, front (facing the earth) and the rear (not facing the earth), it will be easy to conclude if it was a alien meteorite or sister "moon" that hit our moon. Prior to this collision, the moon must have rotated on its own axis and the earth saw all sides of the moon at different times. The rotation was not at the same speed as it revolves around the earth. That is because the moon was more even when it got created.

Why do observers on Earth only ever see the same side of the moon?

Observers on Earth only ever see the same side of the moon because the moon's rotation period is the same as its orbital period around Earth, causing one side to always face towards us.
