yes, they are separate systems.
You can't see it until you remove the dash and centre console,then remove heater box and you'll find it in there
remove glove box. remove platic cover behind glove box under hood remove both heater hoses at firewall under dash remove retaining screws on heater core remove heater core reinstall is exact opposite of removal
You can replace the heater fan motor .......remove glove box, four screws hold it in.......then remove screws from motor and drop it down out of the housing.

You need to recover the R134 charge, remove the whole dashboard, then remove the a/c heater box to get to the heater core. The heater core should be accessible right next to the gas pedal. No dash removal is necessary.

To change the heater blower motor on a 2000 Chevrolet Astro Van open your hood. After you open the hood you will see the heater box on he passenger side remove the four bolts holding the motor in and pull it out.
Remove the water supply hoses from your heater core. Remove the heater core retaining bolts. Reverse the process to install your new heater core.
Remove the dash on the passenger side. Good luck, this is not an easy job.
