Yes they sell millions of PS3 games and some like Call of Duty Ghosts will be made for the PS3 and PS4. Sales of the PS3 games will be a much higher number for the series than the combined Xbox One and PS4 totals with Xbox 360 version selling even more than the PS3

Once the PS4 is released, games for the PS3 will no longer be made although stores will continue to sell used games. The reason for this is purely commercial.
