thin steel wool
An ionic liquid conduct electricity. A thick liquid means more free ions, thus more conduction.
.0500 inches.
A half inch thick steel plate, A half inch thick plywood, Brick, Concrete Block
so it can conduct high current without being damaged.
It just has to be easier for the lightning to transfer through than anything near it.

11 gauge steel is 0.125 inches thick.
26-gauge steel is 0.0179" thick.
Electricity moves better through thick wire. This is because thick wires have a lower resistance and allows more current to pass through it. Now that might be true but I did an experiment with a thick wire, thin wire, light bulb, and D batteries and the thin wire made the light bulb light up brighter. So, really its probably a thin wire.
Depends on what kind of steel: 18 Gauge Standard Steel is .0478 Inches. 18 Gauge Galvanized Steel is: 0.0516 inches thick. FYI 18 Gauge Aluminum is 0.0403 18 gage steel is 0.0478 inches thick 18 gage steel is 0.0478 inches thick
19 gauge steel is 1.11 mm thick and 20 gauge is .953 mm thick.
11 ga stainless steel is 0.1250 inches thick
It is thicker than 1/8th inch thick steel.
It is .478 mm thick.
18 gauge stainless steel is 0.0500 inches thick.
It depends on how thick of steel you're aiming to cut. But most job shops process steel with either laser cutting (for thin steel) or waterjet cutting (for up to 12" thick)... or machining.
How thick thick the metal is.
