Will tire size p255-60-r16 with 16 rims fit on a 1998 ford expedition XLT Or which is the wider tire that can fix an 1998 Expedition XLT 2x4 with 16 rims?

I have a 97 Expo 2x4 and I have put 315 70 r17's on it with aftermarket 17" wheels (wider). These are over 4" taller (diameter) and almost 2" wider. I had to trim the bumper skirt back a hair (plastic on the front bumper) and they rub just a touch on the plastic behind the front tires at full turn.
